Ingredients:
- 1 block firm tofu, cut crosswise into 8 slices, about 1/2 inch thick
- 2 tbs canola oil, plus more for grill
- 2 tbs minced garlic
- 2 tbs minced fresh ginger
- 1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbs sugar
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 2 tbs sliced scallions
Press:
- tofu to remove excess water
In:
- small saucepan, combine oil, garlic, and ginger over medium, stirring until softened and fragrant, about 2 minutes. Add soy sauce, sugar, pepper, and 1/4 water, stirring about 2 minutes at simmer.
Pour:
- hot marinade over tofu in rimmed dish. Turn slices evenly to coat, cover with plastic wrap, and let marinate in refrigerator for 6-8 hours, flipping slices carefully about halfway through.
Heat:
- grill to medium, grease grates well, and grill tofu slices until browned, about 3 minutes/side.
Reduce:
- remaining marinade in saucepan, adding sliced scallions.
Place:
- grilled tofu on serving dish and garnish with marinade and scallions.
