Brandy's Roasted Red Salsa

Ingredients:

  • 10 dried chiles de arbole
  • 1/2 half red tomato
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • salt, to taste
Open:
  • dried chiles and remove seeds (I wear gloves when I do this...definitely be careful about the pepper oil on them, and don't touch your face, especially your eyes!).  
Roast:
  • chiles in pan dedicated to roasting chiles, or roast on barbeque.  Turn constantly, roasting until browned/slightly black.  Roast tomato also. 
Boil:
  • chiles in water to cover, until softened, about 10 minutes.  Retain water.
Blend:
  • chiles, tomato and garlic in Cuisinart until fine, adding water and salt, as needed.  Makes a small quantity, so feel free to double/triple for larger quantity.
